Textured Whites (Chardonnay & Semillon)
Chardonnay
- Meg tasted: Rob Dolan White Label Chardonnay, Yarra Valley
- Colour: Medium lemon (with/without green tinge)
- Top Australian Regions: Yarra Valley, Margaret River, Mornington Peninsula,
- Aromas: Toast and vanilla from oak. Cool climate: oyster shell, lemon, lemon meringue pie, grapefruit. Warmer climates: peach, nectarine
- Palate: Creamy, medium to high acid, flavours from fruit and oak
- Food: Seafood, piri piri chicken, white meats, vegetarian
Semillon
- Meg tasted: Tyrells Hunter Valley Semillon, Hunter Valley
- Top Australian Regions: Hunter Valley, Margaret River
- Colour: Pale lemon, almost water white in youth, brighter lemon with age
- Aromas: When young, lemon, white flowers. With age, toast, honey, hazelnuts, nougat
- Palate: High acid, light body, low alcohol
- Food pairing: Seafood, oysters, fish with butter and capers
