- Colour: Pink, Salmon, roasted salmon, blush, baby pink
- Winemaking: From red grapes with short skin contact for colour. Any variety can be used, but Pinot Noir is popular
- Aromas: Red fruits – strawberry, raspberry dust, cherry, cranberry
- Palate: Moderate alcohol and acidity
- Food pairing: Red curry prawn salad

- Top Australian Regions: Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Tasmania, Adelaide Hills
- Colour: Cherry. Brick/ brown with age
- Aromas and flavours: Cherry, raspberry, cranberry, strawberry. Toast, vanilla, clove from oak
- Palate: moderate acidity, light-medium body, silky tannins
- Food pairing: duck and medium meats
